    Macron Wins Presidential Election

Macron wins quite easily, but still an unpleasantly large number of the French voted for the far right.

Congratulations, President Macron. And thanks to the voters of the wonderful country of France for their wisdom at the ballot box. Well done! Europe needs our leadership. The world does.

Given over half voted for the far right or far left I am not so sure. Worrying for the future.

Yes, liberal democracy has become far too much a plaything of the rich and those with power. People are looking for something else that gives them some control. I don't see anything much better though.

I guess that means the traditional parties - Republicans and Socialists - are well and truly finished now.

At least this pro-Kremlin lady finally off the track. Congrats to the whole civilized world

Things can change quickly. Just takes one promising candidate at the right time (withe the right unrealistic promises), and socialists might be back. Or a charismatic Republican (with no too big embezzlment track record), and they would be back.

Macron Party came out of nowhere. And might get back there after Macron.

Surely an election system thing. Designed in such a way to give non-centrists an overly loud voice.

I have to go ahead and disagree with you. The system was designed long ago. And 5 years ago was first time that a "non-centric" candidate made it to the shootout.
Before was typically center-left vs center-right.

Nowadays I would argue that this binary system helps preventing a radical candidate (so far)
