This has been suggested by some people for the last decade or so.

A link to this "Lipstick, iPhone and a gun" ad showed up while reading about primary results in the US.

Oh Saturday Night Live was already on this in the 1970's- America! Show us your guns! (not all that far from the truth) Apologize for crappy video quality- it's pretty short:

After the Port Arthur murder that left 23 dead it took the Australian government 12 days to change their gun laws - 12 days!

In the UK it was Dunblane. For most countries it is once ever, for the USA once a day is tolerable.

So, yeah, time to once again trot out the Jim Jefferies gun control routine for anyone who hasn't yet seen it:

Presidents, rinse and repeat. But they are powerless.

Hungerford was bad enough, but didn’t involve kids (apart from being made orphans)

For Dunblane, my daughter was the age of those little red-headed kids who all looked like her...her Scottish-born teacher was pretty freaked-out after it happened...

On CNN they were saying AR15 bullets were uaed which will have totally destroyed the little bodies leaving them unidentifiable. Poor, poor parents I just can't imagine their grief upon grief. Sold legally to an 18 year old. A very sick society. Managed 30 seconds of FOX news before "gun laws would not stop this"
