Taiwan is making small steps. However, even with the reduced quarantine (3-4 days depending how you count), you still need to book a week in a hotel. After the initial enforced isolation, you can then exit the hotel but need to return to sleep there. Don't ask me the logic behind this.
Best covid hype headline by the media this week:
"Active cases in Pampanga treble in just a week".
Oh no a new wave you think.
Active cases in a population of 2.5 million go from 7 to 19.
Wearing face masks will no longer be mandatory at most Australian airport terminals from this Saturday.

Sigh. How do we stop these politicians and researchers from burrowing deeper down the rabbit hole all because their collective subconsious is determined to keep this household flu going as a world pandemic so that they can be that key figure in uncovering the next deadly disease/world cure, just like how the Contagion/Outbreak movies played out.
I have been waiting for the HK gov (and several other govs) to have their Eureka moment and go, okok we need to sit down and make up our minds, is this a deadly disease or just another disease like the millions surrounding us that could possibly kill somebody, AND THEN formulate the measures and restrictions after that decision is made. But no...everyone is way too engrossed in their movie role and WHO actually still recommending on their website quarantine for close contacts. The neighbourhood shops are still closing early voluntarily, not for lack of patrons. And I see more people using tissues and devices to press lift buttons, way more than before!
I suspect the general public is actually of the same mind as the gov/researchers - they haven't made up their minds about this covid even after 3 yrs of firsthand experience in their face. Ppl just dislike having the restrictions and disagree with some or more of the gov policies but deep down they actually agree that this flu is some scary shit that needs to be eradicated and contained. My personal view that this is and was always just another household flu variant now seem to be in the super minority, downgraded from minority status .
WHO pls wake up from your crack haze and do some proper investigative research and put the world out of its drama-queen misery. We can't count on the HK gov or its ppl anymore, you are the only option left. I don't agree countries should just follow each other blindly but doesn't it bother you that there is a ministry of health out there staffed with ppl who are not medically or scientifically trained that clearly disagrees with your risk assessment on this topic?

During an Influenza season, our daily infection can go up to 1,000 a day. Imagine we treat Influenza like we treat COVID-19 now.
- July 2021
Partially due to the low take up of the influenza vaccine, we still have 600-800 deaths from influenza yearly in Singapore, which could have been prevented by Influenza vaccines.
- Aug 2021
We continue to urge all fully vaccinated COVID-19 individuals below the age of 70 to adopt Home Recovery as the default care management, just like how you would recover from, say, Influenza
(in response to concerns from public on increasing no. of infections/having to stay in same house with infected family members)
