It transpires that part of the reason the UK is struggling to fill airport security jobs is because it is offering substantially less pay than they were before laying staff off.

There are staff wanted signs literally everywhere on the south coast of England. Clearly employers are not able to fill jobs at the rates offered.

U.S. admits that covid will not be eradicated (duh) and we're going to have to learn to live with it. Also admits that various new variants are so transmissible, pretty hard to avoid getting it if you're exposed.

It’s a good objective, but should have been coupled with some incentives for investment/automation and stronger incentives to work for those who are able to. Some more constraints around zero-hour contracts and gig economy employers would is also desperately needed.

The Philippines will not have any more lockdowns. The focus will be on vaccination and health service capacity

First day of school enrollment (kids have to enrol each year)

Last year just 220,000 enrolled on the first day of enrollment with all the restrictions. This year 3.3 million. 24 million to go

Vaccination is not compulsory but parents with unvaccinated kids will be given "counselling" and a mobile vaccination van is waiting.

I’m guessing Brighton is markedly different but having finally been able to venture down the nearest town’s high street after being here 10 days there’s really not much beyond coffee shops, charity shops and Turkish barbers
