My catalyst was the realization that the "misinfo" laws newly enacted in many countries had no sensible caveat at all. I think the real reason why misinfo is rampant now isn't really because of social media. Social media is an accelerant but the real cause imo is because wiser ppl or at least more mature ones do not engage in arguments or fights - that's the natural dispositions of wise old hermits and that's also what we teach our kids. So when you stop making the effort to occasionally tangle with an idiot and that continues for too long, the world as we know it now is the end result..

Eg since kicking Trump off our planet permanently isn't an option, I would rather he stay out in the open for all to monitor than to go off to the side where he can grow his cult quietly... I thot it was a bad move in the first place when ppl started criticizing Twitter for letting him run wild - classic situation where you use something to your benefit only to have it totally backfire on you when someone else does the same.. like Paypal now with its ability to deduct damages directly from your acc for alleged misinfo.

Downside is online arguments really does take years off your lifespan truly..

The names Ligma Johnson should have told you those were trolls and not actual Twitter employees.

That is true..they don't have a misinfo policy. The ability to deduct "damages" language isn't brand new too except their recent booboo of tweaking the language and backtracking when social media kicked up a fuss..when you put 2 and 2 together, I think I see where this is headed eventually :0 ..nothing good can come out of this esp for the regular consumer/citizen.

I gave him my laptop, security pass, and business credit card. We walked into my office and made even smaller talk as I loaded my remaining stuff into a cardboard box. He walked me out to the parking lot past the ancient secretary who had been in the office longer than anyone else. She looked up and said, "Where are you going?" I just smiled and said, "Away." She chucked. Forty-eight hours later a currier arrived at my house and delivered my final paycheck and my former company and I were all square.

Had I left the industry (i.e. not going to a competitor), I would have given them 2 weeks notice and they would have happily accepted and we would have had cake and refreshments on my last day.

It's just how things are done in the U.S.

After 11 years at the company (and 4 years here) I still don't have anything at the office I'd take home that wouldn't fit in my regular work bag... Working at canary wharf in 2008 probably instilled a fear of the box walk!

Serious question. The only exposure I’ve ever had to twitter is Aaron due to Covid and where it is quoted in forums like this. Am I missing out on anything that I can’t do by other means? What do you tweeters say?

A narrative building that Twitter was some kind of positive force in society that is going to be ruined by Musk's "fee speech"

In truth the platform is a vile cesspit, populated by morons. Lost its way about 18 months in. I'm no fan of Musk but he's going to struggle to make it worse than it already is.

No time advantage from twitter..not any faster on news/trends than google news. I love internet but social media even when it was just fb alone was nothing but downside. I just gave up on friendships, decided that someone that into fb can't possibly have much in common w me at the end of the day (quite true..)

The only upside from Twitter that I haven't found from other alt is bcos most corp and govts have an official account, I get to blast my grudges directly at them, even if its just a managed account. Nifty solution to libel and slander restrictions imo. Eg if I grouch on my private fb abt some govt regulation, a frenemy could snitch or risk legal action which is a pain even if you win eventually but if I say the same thing to eg @potus ... Nothing happens bcos what's there to do... Or call out elonmusk directly for being an idiot
... quite relaxing..save money on therapy..
