Me too.. just following results. Even tho not watching not bcos of qatar/fifa, I must say I have never wanted a world cup to end more asap.. ;_; The posts on Twitter are 99.9% hate directed at "the west" for worldcup stuff and everything under the sun. I think China, Middle East and whoever can't really gripe anymore that 'the west' always goes round criticizing other countries.. I mean do they even do that in that way? They only do it for 2 issues. It's always the same 2 issues that they bring up..human rights, gay rights.. actually just 1 issue..

It's been a decent WC in spite of Qatar. There have been a few upsets but Germany aside, nothing spectacularly shocking. I wouldn't be surprised if final 8 is Dutch, Argies, France, England, Croatia, Brazil, Spain and Portugal. No change. Maybe the Swiss or Japanese might slip in, but similar has happened at previous WCs. A 48 game tournament will simply make the process of shipping out the inferior teams all the more tedious.
Should point out as well that those who say an expanded WC will help smaller nations are completely wrong. For more places for Europe for example is good news for countries such as Russia, Sweden, Austria, Italy (!) and Ukraine, not San Marino or Kosovo.
It's all about money - more games = more cash.
And anyway we already have an expanded WC. It's called qualifying...
