Russia / Ukraine War - 2023 News and Issues

Last year, Lambrecht provoked international outcry after announcing Germany’s offer to supply Ukraine with 5,000 helmets, at a time when President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s administration was calling for heavy weapons to defend itself against Russian forces.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko dismissed the offer as “a joke” at the time, telling the German newspaper Bild that the gesture had left him “speechless.”

Interesting spin on the German tank topic...

Mr. Scholz’s real concern, they suspect, is that he does not believe the world is ready to see German tanks near the borders of Russia, a reminder of the Nazi invasion in World War II. One senior American official said this week that if Mr. Scholz and the German public are worried about that, in these circumstances “they are the only ones who are.”

While Germany did not say yes to sending Leopard tanks this week, it didn’t say no, either — at least not yet. But Ukraine has a very narrow window of time in which to launch a potentially decisive spring offensive before the Russians do, and the tanks are a key part of that effort.

Not surprising - but interesting that the customs records are available for analysis.

DJI - opposes military use of its drones - but are 'helpless' to stop it.

The data also shows shipments of Chinese DJI quadcopters to Russia after the sanctions and export controls were imposed. Military analysts say the drones are being used by the Russian forces to locate and surveil Ukrainian forces, then target them with artillery.
Some of these drones are delivered directly by a Chinese retailer to Russian distributors, according to customs records, but other DJI quadcopters transit through the United Arab Emirates. The emirates’ embassy in Washington, D.C., didn’t respond to requests for comment

This was a good read ..

The first task is to wipe off or cover up the Z, says Anatoly, 44, of the call sign infamously daubed on Russian hardware involved in the war in Ukraine. “We don’t want friendly fire later on.” Then the mechanics get to work.

In a secret location in Ukraine, within a vast warehouse that could be mistaken for a tank graveyard, what was once Russian – Soviet, in many cases – is being turned Ukrainian.

Wasn't there a brief discussion about what would be the status after winter or 2023 previously and some personal predictions made.. I was looking for it but realized this is a new thread..

I remember mine - I said the war dragging on will be to detriment of Ukraine even if it ends at a stalemate, something like that :x

No predictions.. other than lots of lives will be lost and lots of economic damage will be done.

    For context..

Pink Floyd star Roger Waters has used a speech to the United Nations to repeat his controversial claim that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "provoked".

The musician was invited by Russia to address the UN Security Council.

He called for a ceasefire and condemned Russia's "illegal" invasion, but also denounced "provocateurs" in the West who he claimed were responsible.

Ukrainian ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya called Waters' speech "another brick in the wall" of Russian disinformation.
