I always giggle a little when I heard the word "troublemaker". I remember a local village chief calling me a "troublemaker" once... All makes it seem like school yard banter (which it's sadly not... but hard to take seriously in any case).

Elections primer (with the old guy, Gou, having dropped out after this was written). Explains the White guy, Ko, former Taipei mayor.

Oh, and can very much split your vote, green DPP for president, white TPP for legislature, which clearly happened. DPP ran smart woman ambassador to the US as vice president, appealing to voters who like President Tsai. Good move on their part. Going to bet that the young people in my office were all vote splitters. Hopeless to own a home here, renting more doable than HK. Wages low. Looking for change.

DPP Greens just came around in a truck, waving and thanking everyone, add oil, other such expressions. This was in the wealthy district where my church is located. I was on YouBike, waved back...seems like a nice post election touch.

Pro status quo as is the vast majority of the country. There is de facto independence, just leave it alone.

The CCP will try another combination to get Taiwan back.
They handled Hong Kong very badly by placing incompetents in position of power, which they are not working for the people of Hong Kong while are being paid by the people of Hong Kong. Taiwanese people see what is happening and they say thanks but no thanks to one country two system.
Can you imagine a city with a population of 7 million with no military capabilities can threaten the security of a country that has a population of over 1 billion with one of the largest militaries in the world? Is like a mouse can KO an elephant.
