Looks like the East is the safest when the missiles fly, geographically and politically.

Marcos has congratulated the winner and looks forward to closer ties and greater collaboration (meanwhile sticking with the One China policy). China has yet to respond to this provocation and foreign interference.

Then they were all to happy to accept aid from Australia. They are also among the fattest people on Earth. Quite an accomplishment because the U.S. exists. Let them suck on the teat of China for a while.

Except that there are more votes for the KMT in Taipei. Even in elections where the DPP won a lot of votes there, Taipei still voted more KMT than the rest of the country, especially the South West.

Eh? More than places where the KMT won by a huge margin like Hualien, Hsinchu (county, not the city), Miaoli, and Taitung?

Yes, KMT was neck and neck with DPP in Taipei. A lot because TPP guy, former mayor of Taipei, did really, really well throughout the country, uniformly throughout the country because everyone, more or less, looking for a change, even when it means voting the guy who is never going to get elected. Sending a strong signal to both parties to do better.

Given the KMT ran a military dictatorship, more or less, for, what, 40 years or so, with their capital in Taipei, is it surprising that KMT supporters still exist in the capital? 62 percent did NOT vote for KMT...

Southwest is full of cities like Kaosiung, Tainan,.

In general, KMT did quite poorly, everywhere. So obviously, election by election things will vary, the statement relates to general trends and such. Also, ethnic groups play a factor to some extent.

Vote breakdown by total percentage and raw numbers for each "administrative division" (some cities, some counties) shown at the end:
