For gymnasts it can be life-threatening if they don't have the clearest head. It's a safety precaution.

Man, take a good look in the mirror if all you can say about one of the greatest female athletes of all time is that they "didn't cut it".
Kinda cute reading what was posted by some of the folks.. and then reading about her amazing come back.

Biles, 27, already owned the most U.S. crowns in history with eight total (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023) coming into the event. Sunday's title extends her record to nine.

Friday night was the first time she had broken the 60.000 mark since the 2021 U.S. Olympic trials.

Lol And Hull is going for the stand up. Bit of a wobble but he made it! The judges award him a perfect 6.0, sorry a 0.0

No I am always inspired by the top athletes. I wish I I believed in reincarnation because I would add that to the list for one life.

I stand by Sage's original comment on Biles in 2021:

    https://geoexpat.com/forum/82/thread361354-6.html

In that Olympics she just didn't have what it takes to sweep the board, or even compete. Biles is currently joint 124th on the list of all time Olympic medal winners (7) a standout achievement; but she'll never get near Larisa Latynina - Russian Gymnast in the 50's and 60's (18 medals) who's in 2nd place behind Phelps; because of her 2021 no show.

That's the long and short of it.

For the record, there are 4 gymnasts in the top 10 medal winners.

Look forward to seeing her placing in France this year. She is the Bolt, Hamilton, Jordan, Phelps, Brady for Gymnastic.

Just because someone is not the GOAT does not stop them being a great and inspiring. That sort of attitude comes out a lot on FB where couch potatoes slag off someone who is not top of their sport. It takes a serious amount of dedication,
effort and talent to even be in the lower reaches of the world rankings for any sport.

Of course, Biles is a great Gymnast, however the press coverage and commentary when she bailed from the 2021 olympics definitely stayed away from reporting the full truth.

The very best athletes lay it all on the line, take big risks and make it work; She didn't in that case. So read my original comment from the time for context, referenced as it is, in this thread.

There's also the small matter (pun intended) of her suspected doping. She has a TUE for Ritalin which is an excellent aid for gymnasts, as it improves both balance and concentration. And she is 4'8" with fairly androgenous features and a reasonably male musculature.

As we all know, gymnasts are known for taking (banned) brake drugs to keep them small...

So she might just be a muscular dwarf with ADHD who rose to become the most famous gymnast of the last decade, but she's definitely also taking some pharmaceuticals that aid her performance as well.
