Well, in Canada, it's also all hand-counted paper (at least it was when I lived there). I once served as a poll monitor. I had monitored the voting in my poll, then the hand counting, been to the candidate's party for the victory speech and to see the election called, and probably in bed by 1am with a pretty clear picture in from every riding.

Among these, Trump managed to take over the Republicans with his agenda, but in return he is the horse pulling the cart, people vote GOP because of him but it will be heritage foundation et al who run the show. That's bona fide frightening - these guys know exactly how to condense their objectives into votes.

AfD is in the middle - while they're shunned by all other parties they do now have a proper party organisation and might achieve something if they actually manage to get a state majority. Still, there is a high share of clowns in their upper echolons, so once they get into power I'm pretty confident they'll mess up beyond repair.

Farage meanwhile - come on. The guy is a prankster on the search for his next paid gig. There is absolutely no change Reform will be of any consequence whatsoever
I meant more from a personality/persona point of view, Trump is clearly more frightening but, yes, Republicans take the blame. But wasn't Farage somewhat instrumental in Brexit? So, yeah, I guess he did do something, not on Trump levels.

I really do not understand the Trump of cult now- I mean, I understood it the first time, in 2016, but in 2024? Whatever. However, the people who have issues with immigration and such, well, that's still an issue even after Brexit, so Farage is appealing I guess. Not a British person, don't know in depth, just watched the guy campaigning and such. Overseas English-language news channels have way more coverage of UK elections than anything in the US.

BBC now predicts only 4 for Reform. Also, Alliance gained one seat from DUP
