Don’t see much of a swing to Labour at all. Seems the voters mainly went to Reform, if Mordaunt’s swing was contained to something like Braverman’s she would have kept her seat.

If they draw the wrong conclusions from this, depending on what Labour (and Reform) do, the Tories may well be out of power for a long time.

The Labour vote share was below the polls. Seems to very much have been an election of tactical voting. People voting Lib Dem or Green knew that meant a Labour government- they just wanted the Tories out.

There was a big swing to Labour from the Conservatives but an almost as big a swing from Labour to Reform (who were starting from zero). So the net result hides big swings.

The new Reform vote makes any comparison with previous vote share pretty meaningless.

Sunak has now decided to resign and step down as Tory Party Leader.
    Just watched his departing speech.

Saves the embarrassment of being voted out as leader I guess...

Has he been to see the King yet. "Well your Majesty I completely fucked up, can I be excused? The new bloke is waiting outside"

It's similar to what David Cameron did after the result of the EU Referendum...except that was more of an embarrassment to Sunak.

I really haven’t been following over closely either before during or after.

Have there been any polls on whether people would have voted differently if Sunak wasn’t PM? Not that Labour wouldn’t have got it but just not by this much
