Have there been any polls on whether people would have voted differently if Sunak wasn’t PM? Not that Labour wouldn’t have got it but just not by this much
Haven't seen any, but to be honest after all the others I think the result was always going to be bad

Agree. I think results would have been similar or worse with different leaders. With Truss, worse. With Johnson, similar - no doubt some don't vote for Sunak because of the colour of his skin, but many had had enough of Johnson's lies. I think Sunak was probably the best The Tories could have.

Isn't it odd that in the UK the new leader starts immediately. There's no time for RIshi to organize an insurrection.

And no defined time to pack and move out.

I think you underestimate the number of people that didn’t vote Tory because of skin colour and religion. Yes they would have won but the protest vote that led to loss of seats wouldn’t have been anywhere near so big (but still large).

The shift to right of centre is worrying in that it’s a Europe wide trend. And it’s actually a better opportunity than the Liberals ever had to split the Red/Blue dominance. The Tories will be stupid enough to lurch right in an attempt to gain a share of that vote back when all they really have to do is wait for Labour to implode.

I think they need to do something to get trust back, I don't think they can sit and wait. Well they can but it will be a long wait.

Parties can implode, look at the Liberals in the UK in the past.
