It seems to have good public support overall, bipartisan political support, so its pushing through unopposed. I'm a bit perplexed to be honest, I mean yeah social media can be bad for kids but this is nothing new and I'm not really sure why suddenly now its a hot topic and so urgently, and whether completely banning is a good idea, maybe there could be ways to allow kids to use it responsibly and productively rather than outright banning. But anyway thats what they are doing now. My youngest just turned 16 a few months ago so I'm too old to worry about it now.
Maybe, the parents should have taken better steps to monitor what their kids get up to, than just allow the Australian government to take, yet, another freedom away.
Sure, parenting is hard, but it isn't that difficult if you make some time for your children.
No such thing as bad children, just shit parents, which Australia has a lot of, because they're so stressed trying to make money, at the expense of parental supervision.
Be a better parent and stop drinking the property market Kool Aid!
I perhaps wouldn't put it as bluntly as that but I basically agree. Make sure your kids can talk to you about what is going on in their life.
Build up their confidence and inner strength. I got slammed on here because of having beauty queen daughters 16, 18, but I tell you nothing builds their confidence more. I have a friend whose daughter, 12, is a good martial arts fighter. Same effect.
This ban is a band aid. There was bullying when I was at school in the 1960s and 70s. There will be bullying despite this ban.
