The Constitutional lawyers are going nuts at the moment as to what the Senate can or can't do, should of shouldn't do regarding the impeachment of the VP.

The current situation is that the House forwarded the impeachment to the Senate om the last day of Congress sitting.

The Senate however has not formally accepted it because they adjourned. They say they will start the trial process at the end of July with the new Congress.

But it seems the legal position may be that if the Senate do not formally accept it before the new Congress starts then it lapses and the House would have to do it again. BUT under the constitution they must wait a year between impeachments.

Meanwhile the police (the NBI) have recommended charges be brought against Duterte for the threat to Marcos. Given the average time between charge and decision is 7 years here don't hold your breath for that.

At least we don't have Musk
