Again it's being uninformed to say that he doesn't have political experience since he's been involved in politics for over two decades in advising roles. Unlike Harris, there was a contest and he was chosen at he best candidate over three others. Having a bit of an outsider was crucial to separate from the previous administration. As to making him expendable, the previous Liberal guy had virtually no political pedigree nor was he well regarded in his field before, he was a poster boy, the son of a former PM and he lasted for a decade through multiple minority governments. Carney will likely be there for a good number of years. The Conservative leader on the other hand, has only done politics and managed to drop a double digit lead AND lose his own seat and yet it appears he might survive as party leader which is baffling.
To say that Carney was only elected to go to war with Trump is incorrect. This is a key time in Canada where new alliances need to be formed, the economy was under threat before Trump came to power, there's a housing crisis, a debt to manage, immigration issues to deal with and interprovincial accords to be made. There's a reason why the liberals were down around 20% of support before Trump came along. Clearly Carney has way more clout and accrued respect to establish international relations and a lot more knowledge and experience to deal with the economy than Poilievre. The previous liberal leader was a lightweight like Poilievre, good for photo ops but far from a scholar. Carney may not be successful as the challenges ahead are formidable but it's not even close when it comes to deciding which of the two main candidates was the better choice.
