Seeing as we are way off topic and less depressing than the war story

Roland Gift lived near me, as did his gorgeous sister, and his mum's weird shop (Pauline Gift's Shop) which I always thought was a drug dealer front.

What’s commonly referred to as Taiwan is just a euphemism, and also includes parts of Fujian province.
The official name is Republic of China.
Thus China is a divided nation, just like North and South Korea or Germany in the past.
They just handle things differently due to the immense difference in population.
Back then any East German could jump the fence/wall and was regarded as a German citizen in
the West. That’s just not possible for R.O.C.

You never know how it eventually turns out.

Taiwan is a puppet of US at the moment and the general population is not happy.
They will fold into China by themselves and China doesn't have to do anything.
Tell us you have never ever talked to any Taiwanese in person in the last 30 years.

The USA isn't the only one deporting legal residents married to citizens:

The principle is the same: a legal permanent resident married to a citizen with citizen children can be deported for actions deemed to be against national interest, even if said action is merely online speech.
