N'Awlins was a great place last time I went...but that was 8 years ago back when I paid a visit to Tulane.
I have to agree with most of the things said about the Dirty South to a certain extent. Most of Alabama and Mississippi is dangerous to minorities like me who simply do not fit in. In fact, back when I was in college at UF and traveled back and forth between Jacksonville and Gainesville to go home for the weekend, I would always remember to get gas at either place to keep myself to stopping anywhere halfway, since those places are filled with front porches and gruff-looking men sitting and holding on to their shotguns.
There are pros to living in the "Dirty South" though, namely real Southern hospitality (the non-racist type), Southern BBQ, football (not soccer), and....well, more BBQ. It's practically impossible to find steak here in Hong Kong that can match some good ol' backyard grilling at FL. :-)
