They write in Hong Kong but assuming he wants to learn the mandarin pronunciation...well honestly Hong Kong accent when speaking Mandarin is pretty dodgy. This is unless they have really put some effort into learning it properly / lived / studied in mainland or Taiwan etc. (in my opinion)

Hi! I am a local Chinese (growing up in Hong Kong) - of course fluent in speaking Cantonese. I am now working for a China-based company and have to write traditional / simplified Chinese as well as speaking mandarin most of the time... I live and work in Hong Kong Island.

Why do you need to learn formal traditional writing in such an intensive way (sounds like)? Because of your work? We can have language or culture exchange in that way.
