nearest equivilent in english (UK) is a greasy spoon cafe, cafe is more accurate discription than restaurant.

I would translate a greasy spoon cafe (a US phrase?) into a "transport caff" in English ... or a "milk bar" in Australian or a "dairy" in Kiwi ... if that helps!

(for the avoidance of doubt, I wasn't reading the chinese !)
