Let's face it, the chances are that if she hasn't made contact or used her bank account since 10th November then either (most likely) she's dead, or she's decided to go start a new life somewhere. The chances of her being, for example, held somewhere against her will with no contact being made by kidnappers for this long is very small I would say.

There's a chance that she's suffered a breakdown and is slumming it somewhere.

After all, she spent the night wandering the streets of Beijing alone, then left China without telling her (I presume more senior) colleagues.

Sounds like whatever happened started before she left Beijing.

Agreed. Checked out the Missing Persons Unit website earlier and people DO go missing here (like anywhere else).

Or she's been injured, is currently an amnesiac Jane Doe wandering around Hk doing odd jobs and trying to find clues to her identity.

or does that only happen on TV?

It is possible to survive in a city without money. But she wouldn't be doing this unless she were sick in some way.

Ugh. All this feels a bit cold-blooded.

It happens, but it's not all that frequent. Maybe she was bringing coke in from Canada through Beijing and when she got to HK they thought it was best to get rid of her? Who knows.

Someone would have to be very stupid to do that...killing an expat or a tourist raises red flags for everyone.

Seems also possible that she was mugged in Beijing, and her documents used to get someone across the border into HK. No exit from HK and nothing beyond the initial cash advance indicates someone trying to get to HK as a final destination.

Thought about that, but who would be using her passport to get into HK? It would have to be someone foreign as most Chinese women couldn't pass themselves off as an Ani Ashekian from Canada...

This story notes that her bank account was accessed Nov. 10 for a large amount of cash in CB MTR station. They most likely have seen the video tape.

The Facebook page says her bf is leaving Canada for HK on Dec 25th and that they want people to "favorite" the You Tube video to that viewed my more people.

    Link is in the story.
