Gulf Cooperation Council - lack of Arab response to Syrian refugees

To date, the oil-rich Arab states have offered to take no refugees.
    • The six Gulf countries - Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain - have offered zero resettlement places to Syrian refugees.
    • Other high income countries including Russia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea have also offered zero resettlement places.

    have not offered

Singapore is pretty damn small, they could provide... money and perhaps some expertise here and there, but I doubt they can afford to take in more than 500 people (in terms of the land area scarcity, not in terms of the financial means).

But of course, every single nation on Earth should take some responsibility for the crisis. And the silence thus far from the Arab world... lets see if those oil-rich leaders will step up - and if the rest of the world dares to speak up on this in a politically-correct manner.

Why should every country take responsibility for this ?

I think take responsibility is a bit too severe, perhaps show some empathy towards legitimate refugees.

A country's responsibility should first and foremost be focused on its citizens and then neighbours and then to extended partners and finally to the global community.

There are still larger humanitarian (yes, if you're a victim your situation is far more important than anyone elses... but just saying) crisis out there which the world has not taken responsibility for.

Its shame that Arab neighbors - So Called Brothers didn't come up to help refugee. They are equally responsible with NATO in creating this mess. All started with so called IRAQ war and its looks like never ending war now.

If it would have been a natural calamity, I would have supported the argument of each country should have taken up some or other responsibility (depending on their capacity) but this is indeed not a natural calamity.

It is a direct-indirect outcome of constantly setting priorities wrong, supporting/provoking unnecessary wars (may be to support ARM manufacturer) and interfering in other countries internal matters without fully understanding dynamics.

Again saying same, people who are responsible for this must take greater responsibility.

As the west finally starts weaning itself off the Arab oil teat the Arabs will become increasingly desperate for ways to keep their power over their lapdogs in Europe and north America....

Anyone who can't see this is deluding themselves...
