The Kuk feeing ‘unspeakably heavy pressure’ from Beijing

Even the untouchables are being squeezed to stay on message and tightly in the turn-up-and-vote 'club' that never questions.

Rural Hong Kong elder facing ‘unspeakably heavy pressure’ from Beijing won’t rule out independent run for Legco | South China Morning Post

20,000 people had signed applications to become a member of the new party but the government haven't allowed them to register it yet.

I live in gleeful anticipation of the day when the CCP stabs the Kuk in the back and implements forcible land reform in the NT to help buy off the general Hong Kong population.

It's only a matter of time. The CCP has betrayed every fellow traveller who has worked with it in the past, and eaten its children (almost literally, come to think of it) -- so the Kuk should be a stroll in the park for them.

Hong Kong Tycoons first in the queue though.

Until LegCo can be 'fixed' the CCP still need the KUK more than the KUK need the CCP. Perhaps that's why the KUK want to split the pro-authoritarian vote so LegCo stays very close and they are needed.

The Kuk has also been historically very good at (politely put) 'co-opting' relevant Hong Kong Government officials - including at least one very senior English colonial official. I've no doubt they could buy off the Liaison Office too in normal times. However these are not normal times in China.

The small house policy & the Kuk have no place in modern HK.

Then this should keep them happy for a bit. No consensus? Getting rid of the SHP would be one of the few things most would agree on.

How many cans can this administration kick down the road at the same time. It really is an artform no matter how clumsy it looks.
