    The obvious downside is OS upgrades and whatever else the manufacturer chucks onto that stick - could lead to performance issues, adware, malware etc.

    Chromecast is cheap . . . why even entertain the idea of buying a clone?

    This thing isn't cheap enough (relative to the original) to even consider buying.

    Just get a Chromecast (make sure it's v2) and be done with it*


    * most people I know who have a Chromecast seldom use theirs

    there are a few limitations with both chromecast 2 and original chromecast

    presumably, a clone may not have these limitations, but they may not be as reliable either

    Well it doesn't appear to support Chrome casting so it's only comparable to an Apple TV. Ultimately not that great as the entire benefit of the Chrome device is bypassing your mobile device.
