In the grounds of one of the dead mayors listed was a mass grave of many of his victims.

But that is of no concern, what really matters is Duterte trying to put the frighteners on them by conflicting stories of what might happen to them. That is what is really evil. Twisted logic.

This Machievellian approach works. It may not be nice like Trudeau, blackface and all, but it works.

    40,000 MILF fighters surrendered
40,000 MNLF fighters expected to surrender
    1,000 RAP fighters surrendered
    Thousands of NPA fighters surrendered.

Peace. Optimism. Progress. Less hunger. Less poverty. Happiness.

No one gives a toss what ignorant foreigners think anymore.

So 82% are satisfied by the war on drugs.

12% are dissatified - but the biggest group within that are dissatisfied because there are still too many active drug dealers.

Only 4% are dissatsfied because of killings.

This 4% is about the same level of support for the Catholic hierarchy/communist party/Liberal Party alliance.
They control most of the media.

Of course it is me versus everyone else .

And still people continue to proclaim Duterte as some sort of savior. Guess it's ok if it's not you he's killing.

I guess this might not have been watched here. Very good documentary from the Frontline team on CBS.

Someone who obviously admires the eccentric Philippine strongman recently posted in another (Wuhan virus?) thread a message deriding the #OustDuterte hashtag.

It wasn't the time or place for me to provide feedback, but I've since seen a news piece from 2018 refloating on the fringes on the intertubes which should reassure him/her:

The Straits Times (SG): Philippine President Duterte says China's Xi Jinping won't allow his removal from office

MANILA (BLOOMBERG) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping had provided him with a personal assurance that Beijing would not allow him to be removed from office.

"The assurances of Xi are very encouraging: we will not allow you to be taken out from your office and we will not allow the Philippines to go to the dogs," Duterte said in a speech on Tuesday (May 15). (2018)
