I am trying to remember in the SDP split and then the SDP-Liberal merger, did any Tories defect? I don't remember any but I could easily have forgotten.

My quick analysis of the seats. A mixed bag of seats from strongholds to marginals.

20.54% Streatham Urban Poor Labour Stronghold

38.49% South Cambridgeshire Rural Generally affluent Tory stronghold
42.88% Nottingham East Urban Poor Labour Stronghold
46.79% Stockport Urban Poor Labour Stronghold
49.22% Enfield North Suburban Moderate Labour majority
52.51% Broxtowe Suburban Mixed Swing Seat
53.89% Totnes Rural Generally affluent Tory stronghold
54.60% Luton South Urban Moderate Labour majority

    4 represent leave constituencies.

Excellent news Jeremy, thanks for the confirmation, so you’ll be totally fine with no by-elections then.
