Looks like it will stall and fizzle out after the Phil's and the temp for HK will be low 20s so hopefully that'll be the case.

Looking likely to be the worst typhoon for The Philippines since 2014. Max winds of 300kph before it hits, with Metro Manila in its path.

Yes, I think it's too late in the season for strong typhoons to affect HK now, although not the case for the Philippines of course. But for HK's case, the cool and dry air from the north will sap away the typhoon before it threatens the city. It will be hard for it re-strengthen in the South China Sea. And the prevailing easternlies will blow the remnants of the storm west to Vietnam most likely.
