    Non resident status in Canada

Hi, all. my wife and I are Canadian citizens who have been leaving and working in Hong Kong for over 10 years. And I am paying tax to Hong Kong gov in the past years As a non resident, I do not have residential ties, house, bank account in Canada and no need to pay tax to Canada government.
But now, my son, 14 yrs old, plans to study in Canada and he will to be taken care by my relative there and my relative will be his guardian. Will it change my status as a non resident which means I’ll need to pay tax to Canada gov?

Probably not. The CRA shouldn't know his status as a non working 14yo.

It could change your relatives' taxes if they claim him as a dependent.
