Court of First Instance rules against Same Sex marriage

the government’s lawyer responded saying that marriage would be “diluted and diminished” and “no longer special” if the right to civil partnerships was granted to same-sex couples.
I had to check which century we are living in, must be some sort of time slip around HK that goes back to the 1950s.

Can't see how civil partnerships dilute marriage.

Very likely not the end of the story. Looks like this will be appealed all the way to the CFA.

Liked your comment not the ruling obviously.
So if those same people would get married with the opposite sex then it does not get diluted? Don’t understand the logic there. So many stupid people in the world trying to force their views on others!

The statement from the government lawyer is basically saying that those who are in a heterosexual marriage deserve & should expect to feel ' special' . I've been married twice, and never once felt special purely because my partner is the opposite sex. To be honest these days I mostly think the lesbian couples have the better deal!
