    "Affordable" properties in the USofA...

Moved from Will HK house prices come down?

Veering away from the actual topic but for nearly US$900K, I'd rather live in this and enjoy freedom, and fresh air. Plus would have change left for maybe 2 new very good cars or anything else. If you have no reason to be in HK the choice is so easy IMO. Vegas may not be the best choice but its not a bad choice.

My home office abroad is bigger than a new 2 BR apartment here. Borders on insanity.

You would need two cars as well if you lived in a place like that.

    Yours. I prefer civilisation.

Man Vegas is not a terrible choice, but probably not where I'd choose. The prices have really gone up there too it seems since I last checked many years ago. Looks like this place has room for 3 cars too. Most people who are here won't move to Vegas though since that's not home for them.

That's a huge home office at more than 450 sqft!

Austin might be more appealing. IMO when one sees what available if you are not tethered to bad air, diminishing freedoms, etc. HK is just not attractive when housing is factored in.

That's the price of a 1000-1500sqft house in Palo Alto...... no wonder all the people from California and moving out of state.

I'd rather live in Santa Monica for 3 mil.

For the price of a government subsidized 600 sqm flat in Cheung Sha Wan you could buy a house with lake access in a gated community somewhere in Florida. I know what I'd rather choose.

    6.7 mil HKD

All these US options are great. However, unless you are an American citizen, or have lots and lots of money, how can you move there long term?

I'd snap up a 600sqm place for 6.7m in Cheung Sha Wan in a heartbeat if I had enough cash.

600sqft though, I'd rather live in Park Island with my nice sea view.
