The neighbours were found in the trash chute?

    Move flat? Lol

This is nothing. Throwing away shoes was over the line but angry people do silly things. Stick to living within your concrete cube and be grateful it isn't a noise issue.

We recently moved into a flat that we bought. The layout is 3 sets of corridors branching out from the lift lobby with 2 flats at the end of each corridor. We leave our shoes outside the flat similar to some neighbours, but not all.

A few Sundays back we were about to head out and noticed our shoes were gone. We went to security downstairs who had a bag of dirty/ damaged shoes some of which belonged to us though some of ours were not there. It transpired that one of our neighbours complained on Sat evening to the management office then took the law into their own hands and threw out our shoes and those of our neighbours. One neighbour noticed first and that's why our shoes were found already when we went down.

We called the police to report theft/ damage of property as did one other neighbour. The police advised us to either not leave shoes out, or buy a doorbell video camera if we do. We chose the latter option. In the meanwhile, another neighbour decided to leave their shoes outside right after the incident and a few days later, their shoes were thrown away (again) so they too reported it to the police. Between us and the neighbours who had shoes thrown away, we highly suspect it is our immediate neighbour. (Say we are corridor 1. Corridor 2 flats don't leave shoes outside. Both flats in corridor 3 leave shoes outside).

A few evenings later we installed doorbell CCTV. Once our neighbour noticed he acted suspiciously and immediately checked the doors of neighbours who also had shoes thrown away. The next morning, the partner/ daughter(?) of neighbour started swearing at our CCTV. Then in the afternoon she spent 15 minutes deep cleaning her boots outside the front door and at the end left a message for our camera saying "dirty stuff needs to be passed onto someone else"

We think the neighbours then complained about us and our CCTV and also decided to leave their shoes out. This is because later that night, security came and had a good look at our CCTV and took a few photos. They also took photos of our shoes and our neighbours and later asked us to take them back inside. They also put up a notice in the tower saying residents are *advised* not to leave shoes outside for hygiene reasons. The notice also mentioned the theft and that it is criminal behaviour. Since then, our neighbours scowl at our CCTV whenever we come home.

We don't feel too safe cos they seem to have mental health issues and we have a young baby at home. Had the neighbours knocked on our door and asked us to move our shoes inside, we could have come to an arrangement. But they just threw our shoes away and with the damaged/ missing shoes, it cost us 2K to replace. And the even more hypocritical thing is that they have a sliding metal gate in front of the door. They used to leave their shoes where the gate slides so their shoes half protrude into the doorway anyway. They still do this during the day but lock the gate at night.

So would like to ask, any suggestions for endgame? Cos we are both owners and they also bought their flat and moved in around April this year.

Other potentially pertinent info is that one of the affected neighbours said someone called the police on our renovators during the renovation which the renovation company confirmed. Apparently there was a complaint they used unauthorized equipment but we obviously had management office approval prior to renovation commencing. We think it's cos they just got annoyed with the noise.
Only in Hk...LOL. After a long hard day its these silly issues that make me wish I could just pack up and leave.

    You can never beat crazy.
It could be a lot worst, e.g. cockroach/rat infestation; screaming and loud noise etc.
If simply putting your shoes inside resolves this then go with that...

Hopefully it doesn't escalate too much... Crazy person sets fire to other person, accelerant under door and no way out...

Not many places seem to have sprinklers and smoke detectors...
