“Enough scientific research supports [the notion] that a 14-day isolation at home is safe, and we adjusted the rules due to the current short supply of hospital facilities,” Hospital Authority chief manager Lau Ka-hin said on Thursday. The previous standards, designed to ensure no one was released when they could still potentially spread the virus, had resulted in some people with no symptoms being in hospital for weeks.
