Some further changes announced in Japan today. Last week, they dropped the requirement for PCR testing before boarding a flight to Japan, which was great news for residents, but still they did not allow mass tourism, only North Korea style "guided tours".

Today, they relaxed for tourists somewhat, allowing non-escorted visitors into the country. But still it seems like tourists may need to purchase some "package tour" (as opposed to "guided tour" last week), and still no word on if Japan has reinstated visa exemptions like they had pre-pandemic or if tourists still need to apply for a visa.

Progress. Just very very slow. At least faster than HK .

You still need to apply for a tourist visa to go to Japan, and only package tours are allowed. You don't need a tourist visa for HK.

I would be pretty sure that Japan will be back to normal with regard tourism before Hong Kong.

    US Approves Variant-Specific Boosters

Yay! Was not interested in getting get ANOTHER booster for earlier versions of covid but ones targeting the newer variants sound good...just in time for my trip back to the US in October. But maybe Pfizer this time, tired of getting sick with Moderna...

I’m hoping I get the hybrid jab within these 2 weeks before I fly back to HK and hopefully no bad reactions.
