It takes days, dont ask me why. I did a test one to my Standard Chartered HK account 29th June (to see if it was free and how long it would take) and I didn't get it until 4th July.
Oh your right, there was a holiday in that time period. But still I sent on 29th June, and selected "Local Electronic Transfer" as opposed to "Wire transfer" (not sure what difference it makes), so I thought could receive instantly or maybe by next day 30th which was before the holiday. But still it needed a bit longer than that. For you, if you sent it only this morning then unlikely to receive it today.
I did a large HKD withdrawal recently from IB to Citi HK, and it took 3 business days. Requested on Tues July 26, money showed up on Fri July 29.
Actually it showed up as "Pending" in my Citi HK account on Thu July 28, then fully available on Fri July 29. The withdrawal confirmation from IB after I executed the withdrawal was accurate in terms of the days needed for the transfer to Citi HK.
1 free withdrawal per month.
I just did the opposite last night (Monday night, 10pm HKT) - A local large HKD deposit (admittedly the simplest kind) into IB (In the process of selling up HKD assets and buying Euros) and it took under 60 seconds to appear in IB.
Another few mins later and it was all converted (7.96 ex rate and HK$15.5 fee).
Amazing really.
Yep a bit like hotel California
"We are programmed to receive"
"You can check-out any time you like"
"But you can never leave!"
