    What's Your Net Worth?

I'm curious to find out what Geoexpat members' net worths are.

Please feel free to include all your assets - cash, fixed income, equities, properties (inc primary place of residence), funds, derivatives etc.

For your properties, pls just include the equity portion (ie exclude the outstanding mortgage amount).

I think most members will prefer to keep this a secret. Better make a poll.

it seems OP has read through the "How To Retire Early " thread with $$ signs in his eyes. Which is sad because it contains so much more.

Apart from satisfying your own curiosity, can you explain what the broader purpose of this discussion? From my experience, comparing yourself with other people (on any measure, but especially financially) rarely has a pretty end.

As Morrison pointed out, our previous discussions in this general area have sought to avoid direct comparisons while offering helpful ideas for readers whatever their financial status.

The case of some members posting their actual net worth on a previous thread needs to be seen in context. The intention there was to help other readers determine for themselves - on a profoundly practical basis - how much money they would need to have amassed to be able to retire. The revelation of his actual net worth by this poster met with the predictable barrage of criticism and cynicism. But as I said at the time, the discussion it generated proved immensely helpful for many people.

Can you think of some way to redirect this thread to achieve a higher goal than mere comparisons?

I included in my valuation my evaluation of the dipper TM internet brand identity, representing as it does all that people aspire to in terms of an internet identity. I'm expecting to be bought out by Google at any time. Soon you will no longer be Googling but Dippling and all my hard work posting on here will have been worth it.
