PRC multiple entry visa (London v. HK)

    Hi All,

As many may know, I'm in the process of looking at a transferring to HK.
I've done a few searches, but didn't see any answer on this topic, quite.

    Question is:

    A) get HK work permit/visa and then apply for PRC multi-entry in HK?
B1) get HK work permit/visa and then apply for PRO mutli-entry in LON?
B2) apply for PRC multi-entry permit in LON, but before getting the HK visa?

Not really sure which is the best route. Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!!

Without previous China visas, a multi entry China visa is unlikely.

If applying for a Chinese visa in London, you are likely to need to provide accommodation proof in China and return flight tickets in order to get the visa. This requirement is not usually enforced when applying in Hong Kong.

Using a specialist visa agent in Hong Kong might mean you can get an extended Chinese visa, although the multi entries might still be problematic.

I'd wait until Hong Kong and get the visa then.

Yes as drumdrake has said, you will probably need to get a single entry visa first, then afterwards you should be able to get a multiple entry visa.

I've had a dual entry visa previously.
Seems waiting to HK would be the easiest way regardless then?

I was in exactly the same position a year ago. You won't get more than a double entry in London. The London office are pretty strict. Unless you intend to go to the mainland in your first few weeks here, you're better off waiting until you have your HKID and then applying for a multi in HK.

They will give you a one year multiple entry if you apply on the same day you receive your HK visa. It cost us HKD 800,. If you go later they will only give you 6 months multiple entry.

The price depends on the passport in question - for UK passports, for example, it's a lot more than $800.

Thanks Molie. I'm confused about one thing, though, wouldn't I receive my HK visa here in London before moving to HK? So as such, are you saying I'd have to then apply for a 1 year multiple entry when I pick up my Visa at the consulate here in London? Your statement seems to imply being in HK for this part (maybe because you mentioned in HKD). Just want to be clear. Thanks!

Btw, I'd be using an Italian passport.

They usually give you one year if you have at least one year left on your HK visa. But there are exceptions. I had 10.5 months left and still got away with a one year China visa.
