I bet the locals don't boycott japanese videos!

What an example of nationalism in action and they want to teach this to their kids?

I have seen these campaigns a number of times in the last 10 years throughout China but as I said it's a bit more intense this time. China has grown into a superpower and uses the masses to get support from the people for national sanctioned agendas like this one.

The PRC are masters of this frenzy whipping agenda. It helps keep the population engaged in nationalism and pursuits of the Govt, keeps them focused on other issues and a good time at the moment when the balance of powers are involved in political turmoil due to the transition later this year.
You obviously know nothing about Chinese society. When citizens protest against the Government they are "upright, educated, intlligent and moral". In this case they are uneducated sheep????

Chinese peole have long memories. They remember the Japan occupation. They may not 100% agree with their Government but at the same time they are grateful for over 50 years of peace and stability.

Peace and stability ?? Don't forget how 75 to 100 million Chinese were massacred at the hands of their brothers and sisters during the cultural revolution. The protesters are uneducated sheep and the small group of protesters here in HK are professional protesters. We have them in the U.S. as well. Same people get paid to show up at every protest and stir up shit. The Japanese decided to go ahead and purchase the Senkaku Islands because they are fed up with the Mainland Chinese governments' bullshit. China doesn't own everything but they claim the entire South China Sea. Their Government are like a bunch of whiny old ladies. It doesn't matter that China claimed the Islands belonged to China a million years ago (Just being cynical about the years). Since 1898 the Chinese didn't seem to care until the early 1970's when they found out there may be a wealth of resources.

What I have seen is a few thousand people on TV demonstrating in various cities, that' s about, being generous, maybe 0.5 million people...out of almost 1.4 billion.... I wouldn't generalize that all Chinese want those islands, I bet 700,000,000 want more food everyday and proper medical/ health facilities, another 400,000,000 may be dreaming about having a house or something etc etc and then u've got a tiny fraction who are upset about the islands (which most didn't even kno they existed before).

Storm in a te cup, but highly powerful with today's media.

Just let it be. If you have that knowledge, and they don't take the time to learn, then don't teach them anything.

And short memories when it comes to Communist party atrocities (Tienanmen, Cultural revolution, etc).
