    Cycling in Sai Kung park

Just wondered if cycling was allowed in the park without the need for applying for a mountain bike permit. The people at the visitor center said I go ride on the Pak Tam to Wong Shek road only but last monday I saw a couple of cyclists on the High island reservoir road.
Anyone know what the deal is here? Is a permit needed for this section?

Thought i would ask as it would be cycling on a road with traffic and not a mountain bike trail. The 2 cyclists i saw werent on mountain bikes.

You need a permit anywhere inside the country park on road or trail.

The permit is free anyway....if you cycle, you might as well get it...

Funny, I've also ridden my bike (on the roads mind you, not the trails, that's a different matter) in the country parks, never applied for a permit and nobody stopping me.

Did you just ride past the gate without being stopped?
I only intend to ride on road and not any of the paths, trails or walkways and the people in the visitor center, who issue car permits told me i could ride a bike without permit to the mong shek ferry.

That's because the road to Wong Shek isn't itself actually in a Country Park, unlike the road round High Island reservoir.
