    um - silly question - does it lose nutritional value or can the body not absorb it if it's not grinded? I've just been dumping it on top of my cereal. I have noticed that it passes through unscathed....

    btw, I get mine at Great, same price as above more or less, 40$ for 500g.

    According to own experience AND rechecking info online, IF flaxseeds remain whole, not ground, when eaten, it's literally money down the loo... (er, toilet, in "Global Eng"). Seed oils not fully absorbed but loadsa fibre to keep ya regular...

    BTW, seeing some price comparisons, I'd better look into the other (cheaper) sources as mentioned. Thanks.

    I don't mind getting them from a bird shop, but how would I know it's flaxseed instead of some other crazy hemp x poppy x opium hybrid seed? (How do you say flaxseed in Chinese anyway?)

    Will probably end up begging visiting friends.

    Flaxseed/linseed thread still going?

    Hey, if showing 'em KK's pic doesn't do the trick, then print out:

    亞 麻 籽 , then say "Ah-ma Jee"...

    Jee = seed. And oh - that's ma pitched middling-low, NOT rising (or they'll be wondering exactly whose mother ya on about).

    BTW, "watermelon seed" is known - 'round these parts... (sound lika hill-billy?) as just "melon seed", of which there are several types, prepared differently. Just say "Gwa Jee", then let 'em show you their sackfuls. (Usually, open, sunny smiles will get ya sampling nibbles, too.)

    "Seed & ye shall find" - eventually.

    Since Chinese characters are being thrown about here, can I get clarification for some of mine?

    ===

    The name of Konbucha in Putonghua (Mainland China) is 海寶 and in Mandarin (Taiwan) is 紅茶菇,紅茶菌or康普茶.
