If you choose not to watch this documentary by Sir David Attenborough, it's a bit like rushing to make it to the hauptbahnhof in time to catch the next family express to Auschwitch and not stopping to watch the news bulleting about the camps... or something to that effect.
BBC One - Climate Change -The Facts
Most of my friends in Europe I'm in touch with are extremely conscious about this issue and are taking action on a personal and working level to various degree.
In Hong Kong it's practically a non-issue in comparison.
One major difference is that in Europe my friends feel that they are valued members of society and part of the democratic decision-making process. In here and in less democractic second and third world countries in general decisions are made by an unelected ruling class and they tend to have their own priorities.
Lots of lip service and very little action everywhere... It's not at all like going to the camp, it's an unseen danger that may or may not affect people in their lifetime.
Let's take smoking for example, people have known for years that it might kill them but there are still a very high number of people doing it. Same goes with drinking, poor eating etc... Most people are great paying lip service to a cause but when it comes to taking actions that will inconvenience them or cost the money over a longer period of time, it's a very different story.
One of the easiest example is the amount of SUV being sold compared to EV and smaller cars... At best we do a few things to ease our conscience and pretend we care and make a difference
