From the video I've seen of the guy shot in the face, he was far away from the police and no threat.

From what I understand (!), a few protesters tried to storm the LegCo building.
They were repelled with tear gas.
Then the police went 'full Macron' for lack of a better term.
Absolutely awful video on Twitter of an elderly South Asian man being repeatedly gassed directly in the face by the police as he pleads that he is too tired to walk.
Should rebrand to be the "World's Finest". "We have been inspired by police tactics around the world and only selected the best for you, valuable HK citizens, we have selected Macron style protest suppression, supplemented by our existing local point at protester and beat him up style. Hope you enjoy!"
Lots of snippets from Carrie's interview. This one is..

its actually not the police's fault. they are stuck between the government and the protestors
Anyway police are entering Pacific Place:

Stop and search has also restarted, because I mean it ended well last night right? Why stop something that just works so well?

all i'm saying is i met a front line riot control officer and he said that it is a shame that the police are used as the sandwich between the government and protestor
he said he totally understands why the youth are protesting and if he were in their shoes, probably would too
this is a political problem - unfortunately there is not natural outlet in that we can vote the Chief Executive out. coupled with declining living standards for the average young person, you can see why there is this issue
