Petition UK Parliament to debate citizenship for BNO

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/244402

Standing at 43k signatures at present, needs to get to 100k to make it to the floor of the commons.

It might not be the exact language of what is needed but a strong response will add to the pressure for the UK government to start enforcing the Sino-British declaration and working out ways to support people stuck in HK who cannot relocate.

There is also movement in the UK press to introduce priority for skilled migration for Hongkongers recently as well so time is right...

I support the petition but I don't understand why you think the UK needs to increase its population?

Well.. they're kicking the Europeans out - gotta keep numbers up.

(I think the UK needs to sort of Brexit before starting another clusterfuck...)

The UK will need extra people after Brexit. In the so called Australian points system that they keep referring to and plan to introduce they could be more lenient and favorable to HK Citizens and PR's by giving extra points off the bat.

That would be a good gesture from Britain to the people of HK. We are not talking about handing out British passports we're talking about opportunities that HK youngsters deserve.

This could help, from most of the chats, people say HK people are trapped in HK. If they have UK citizenship and the ability to freely move and work in UK, that is an option and I think it will put the HK people at ease.

Not sure that many would go though. But I've noticed Chinese are very comfortable when they have options.

The UK will not do anything drastic like giving millions of HK'ers Citizenship. They themselves are in a crisis and the last thing they want to do is upset China.

As I said, they should be lenient towards HK'ers for points based system residency in the UK - thats it.

Can you see Hong Kongers doing backbreaking work harvesting cabbages for minimum wage? Me neither.

Don’t think your average daily mail reader would be signing the petition any time soon

not only make up the numbers, but obviously it will bring a good injection of capital into the property markets in the UK...

And i doubt it would upset china ?
Giving the hkers passport will ease the problem here and reduce china's attention to this little island.. save face for everyone. just like portugal gave passport to macau citizens ....

let the trouble makers go to the UK and start a londonxit or something ...
