So was that a Gov directive or voluntary? Seems like the latter. Banquets and group dinners will be a big concern at these places too.

voluntary, but govt. only contacted the private clubs on government land, the ones that enjoy around $1000 per year rent

Yup all the golf clubs now closed. HKGC (both sites), Clearwater Bay GC, DBGC, Kau Sai Chau GC (public one). Not sure about Shek O one.

The government hostels would be worse than useless for social distancing ... not even any effective flow-through of air. As long as the weather holds, it is probably nealthier for people to sleep out ... just nearly impossible for the most arthriticky and gouty folks to get down onto the ground, let alone get up again in the morning

Finger-pointing over the recent spike in cases:

Thanks for bringing the opportunity to DO something back to an active thread again.

Options to help out from this older thread: https://geoexpat.com/forum/342/thread355904.html still work too.

And if you are out on a trail and notice some new jerry-building or other sign of habitation, do drop SoCO or St Stephen's Society an email (I suspect ImpactHK already has its hands full in built-up areas) so a team can go and check if there are any specific needs. As it seems to be a concern to some people, I will again emphasise that both these groups provide aid without any requirement to accept Christianity, or even being prayed for.
