Haha yes land can be cheap in that part of the world but getting services isn't and then you can get frozen pipes in the winter if it's not used all the time. Getting the septic tanks emptied... having a generator when power goes out. All part of the fun. My better half is very concerned about getting decent internet on our piece of land so it may end up being a cottage and we'll stay in town instead. Loved whitewater kayaking on the Thompson. Good dry powder in the interior for skiing. World famous Bowron Lakes canoe circuit is a must. God's country! What the hell am I doing in HK?

That's so cool. You are not missing the ologopolies here ripping people off daily on purchases of anything and everything, the bad air, low quality food staples, bad manners (people closing doors on you), and dense urban prison like stacked housing skyboxes that people call homes.

Indeed.... I'm touched to tears inside when I saw my kids sitting down at our picnic table with all their local friends and everyone of them were happy and chatting and playing and eating without ANY indication of ego or race or any bullshit us adults gets messed up with.... and how one of them carried my 3 years old on his back up the hillside because my son was too tired..... just... if we can pack that innocence and brain wipe all the adults in the world with it, there'd be world peace finally

LOL where are you guys buying? Let's hope that internet signal worry is a thing of the past; I heard friends talk about Elon Musk doing something crazy again like offering satellite internet at regular internet prices? Oh yea I went rafting the first time last week; the owner of the local rafting tour company was on my FB and saw my enthusaism with a chainsaw LOL and offered to trade me a white water rafting trip for some time with my chainsaw clearing up their launch trails. We had like once a 50 year event rainfall about 2 weeks ago and my God a few times I thought I was going to get thrown overboard LOL it was freaking awesome hahaha

The local newspaper has a "back in time" thing and I read that 50 years ago, there were annual home made raft competitions literally home built vessels just racing down the Thompson to Kamloops with maybe almost all of them sinking along the way but everyone with smiles on their faces. Too damn bad liability and law suits have destroyed so many things....

Making money so that once you go back you too can afford all the toys that Titus has opposed to the average BC resident who's carrying lots of consumer debt to keep up with Titus.

    *Sad react*

To be fair, I've had my fair share of BS like getting ripped off by 2 contractors here in Canada LOL live and learn.

It's very strange, I don't know if others who has left gone through the same experiences... I dream about HK from time to time and also sometimes try to consciously recall some experiences I had in HK but in all those thoughts, I always see HK empty. Like I'm walking alone down the overpass near my office in Kwai Chung, there are no cars, no people, just the buildings and a sunny sky. The only people I see are friends I had. I'm thankful my mind wiped itself of all the crap people experiences I had over the years....

At the same time again, to be fair, we were all in HK for one reason or another. We made our choices to trade something for other things. I'll be first to be honest and admit I could not have moved to Clearwater with my wife and kids and living this lifestyle if I didn't work my ass off with the opportunities that were available in HK in the last 15 years.

SIgh, I really hope things turn around for HK, it's a damn shame, no matter which side you are on, to see what is happening in contrast to the HK of around 2003-2009 I'd like to call the golden years.... I was working day time at my family's place and night time as a night secretary ordering food and photocopying for high flying lawyers but there was drive and passion and a bit of optimism (even if cut throat) back then

Oh one other thing I could not have done in Canada just last week if I never lived in Hong Kong:
One of the guides at the river rafting company was chatting with me and I went "Ok. I'm going to say you're Aus... NEW ZEALANDER!" ROFL cause I and almost everyone I know would have mixed up the 2 but while in Hong Kong, it's an international city where you get to meet so many different people and I had some New Zealander friends that allowed me to pick up the differences in their accent hahahahaha I told my friend in HK he should be proud of me today hahaha
