    Gas Fittings Inspection

    Hi there,
Google isn’t being my friend at the moment but just wondering if there is a requirement for landlords to inspect gas fittings in rental properties each year in Hong Kong as like UK?
    Many thanks!

No requirement. The gas company (shell in our case) usually has safety inspections scheduled but they have suspended these during covid.

I've rented this apartment for 4 years and never had one inspection, none even when I moved in.
    Gas Supplier (Town Gas).

Utilities in HK are actually pretty decent.

Just call up town gas and tell them you're worried about gas leaks and you think you need an inspection - free and easy.

Oh I meant they do come check every unit inside.
Strange that they do it for some buildings but not others.

Towngas come to my building once a year as well. If you are not in when they come, you can call them and arrange a time for them to come - all free of charge except any new parts you might need. Very professional in my experience.

Thanks all, discovered that supply pipe to hob had expiry date label saying it required replacement 10 years ago.
Gas company wants a fee to replace, landlord won’t pay.
    What can ya do?!

the flexible gas pipes have a date and should be changed every three years
