    Gender expression in schools

The other thread was closed so I thought I would get some posters frothing by linking this.

Schools in the Philippines are reminded that students can express their chosen identity in language and dress. And yes the four in the photo are biologically male students.

(And my daughter has changed classroom and their class has their own unisex bathroom so the boys, in dresses or otherwise, can go in with the girls. No one has a problem with this and we were not consulted as it is not seen as an issue).

In my college dorm, which was coed, the bathrooms were also coed. There were a couple of single sex dorms on campus, mostly for the girls whose parents were not cool with this arrangement.

As the undergraduate male to female ratio was 4:1, it was kind of a necessity to arrange it this way...

I was actually mightily miffed that the other thread was closed. Unless I missed something it had not degenerated and was on the cusp of an interesting debate.

As one of the older generation I willingly admit to really struggling with the whole subject. My biggest beef isn't D&I. I get that totally. I don't always make a success of it but the willingness is there.

Gender reassignment as a teenager (or in some extreme cases even younger) is just so wrong and should be outlawed (because hormones are racing) and what I am not seeing at the moment is sensible balanced debate on such matters

And this is what I was alluding to on the previous thread about encouraging all teens to be comfortable with their bodies and emerging (or emerged) sexuality. I don't think very much is being approached in any kind of balanced way. For example, a lot of guys like to cross-dress but aren't gay, transgender, etc. They just like to cross-dress, good clean fun, some go further and do drag-queen stuff, whatever floats your boat. But some people might jump to conclusions and say "oh you are transgender" and some may be but quite a few are not (said the sister of a cross-dresser...). In the US, I really doubt any school is going to get it right, nor are most parents. My own daughter knew enough gay people and cross-dressers growing up, didn't need to explain anything to her- then went to an arts boarding school the last two years where there were also a wide range of gay and other people so I feel like she pretty much was exposed to everything. Just making it a natural part of life.

The thread getting closed is a good example of the problem. You cannot offer an opinion without getting attacked. I shouldn’t have mentioned Junius Ho- clearly not appreciated as humour!

I have no issue with quiet acceptance of people and making allowances for them. There is an issue when it is agenda driven proselytisation and crowed about. It is not appropriate in the context of a school which should just teach equality and acceptance.

Teens literally do not know their own mind. They need guidance not medical developmental delay, hormone therapy or surgery. There is no other mental health condition where surgery is an option.

It's not a mental health condition, but a neurobiological condition. TG can be predicted from a very early age by looking at the size of the third interstitial nucleus of the anterior hypothalamus

I feel we need to separate transgenderism from the transgender ideology.

For the first, we need to accept that transgender people exist and should be allowed to live their best lives without prejudice.

For the second, we need t be very, very careful.

For example, there is an interesting but thoroughly depressing subset of transgenderism, referred to as rapid onset gender dysphoria (ROGD). I'm not going to get into too much detail here but it refers exclusively to the huge increase of F2M transition among (mostly white, mostly middle class) teenage girls who have shown no previous gender uncertainty.

This phenomenon, combined with the growth of the medical intervention industry (in the US in particular) is leading many young, confused girls to be mutilated by surgeons. Irreversible hormone treatments and double mastectomies, all in the name of feeling accepted into a group (and it doesn't even last too long as many eventually detransition).

It is an example of how young females are being seduced by a religious cult-like ideology that positions itself as inclusive, but is in fact deeply misogynistic. This ideology is also based on numerous scientific falsehoods and contradictions, but the media and other institutions appear to be too afraid to question these in any detail.

IMO, through the acceptance of gender ideology we are witnessing a medical scandal up there with previous interventions such as lobotomies. Thankfully, we have many brave women who won't give up the fight, regardless of all vicious abuse they receive.

    he's great.

But what is the outcome? That we affirm all claims of TG?

Schizophrenia is also neurobiological, but as the analogy goes, if someone comes into your office and says he is Napoleon, you don't offer him a horse and a sideways hat and wish him the best.

The unisex toilets are not an problem and lots of schools in the UK are introducing them and making them more 'open' as they get rid of the vandelisim and bullying potential. However, the lack of urinals does introduce a space and time issue and boys peeing on th toilet seat cannot be great for the girls!

On the dress aspect - most schools in UK have uniform and lots of girls tend to wear trousers so the possibilities gender expression is quite limited.

It's mostly a distraction to keep the far more sinister elements such as Big Pharma and unethical surgeons away from scrutiny

Saying that, I honestly think unisex toilets in a school full of teenage boys is a recipe for disaster. Would have been in my school anyway
