You could have an extra 100 quid in your UK account if you used wise rather than HSBC, and its just as quick and just as easy, once you've done it once its pretty easy to use.

I think it says daily limit of US200K moving from one country to another country bank account (same bank).

It may not be as quick if you hit Wise's compliance team with your transfer.

This is what needs answering. People keep stating that wise offers better rates than the banks, but the spread always seems opaque.

Can someone @bdw? get quotes for the same amount in both directions so we can see what the spread is (in FX rates and fees).

This is IB as of 18:25HKT. (Tiny spread and US$2 fee for each trade irrespective of amount)

For Western Union, you won't get GBP 11,883. You will get only 11,658.

Weird, I did hit refresh for all sites at the time. Maybe it locked into a rate for X amount of time and today, i can no longer have that rate. The GPB has been moving a lot in the last few days.

I do think IB has some of the best rates in town. (I have not used the various specialist services..)

To open a HK IBKR account, do you need to be a resident in HK?

My issue is actually a bit more complex than HK$ to £. I have RMB which I need to convert to $HK first. I find the small currency exchange places the best for RMB to HK$ but they vary so much as well. Anyone know a decent place that they usually see is the best rate? Banks again don't look competitive.
